Bingley Mums has a new site sponsor! As regular readers know, Bingley Mums was set up to help connect local families to local businesses and generally help to improve Bingley in whatever way we can! However, running a website and paying for hosting etc does come at an occasional cost, which is covered by the generous site sponsors – I am so grateful to them for supporting Bingley Mums.
Anyway, more about our new sponsor. Croft and Sons Home Improvement are a local handyman service able to offer a full range of home and garden maintenance and improvement – from large scale projects to odd jobs, they can do them all!
Bingley Mum Rachel says – “Croft and Sons do anything that would fall under odd jobs and general home improvement – so from changing light bulbs and leaky taps to larger projects like fitting kitchens & bathrooms. They are insured and have a current DBS check – most of all, they turn up when they say they will!”
Croft and Sons have sent over some examples of work that they’ve recently undertaken.
Bingley Mums would like to welcome a brand new site sponsor – Hands on Babies – who have several classes in the local area.
As a mum of a young toddler I know how important it is to find a class that really understands and supports the bonding between the parent and baby and also provides something for Mum and or Dad too. Hands on babies provides Baby Yoga, Toddler Yoga and Baby massage classes in the Bingley and surrounding areas.
The style of Yoga that I teach is based on Hatha yoga – the union of balance of the body and mind and incorporates massage, soft stretching and gentle movements to make it appropriate for babies, ensuring a fun and rewarding experience for both the carer and the baby.
After the class I encourage parents to stay for as long as they like, to have a drink eat some delicious cake and have a chat. The Hands on Babies Baby Massage and Yoga classes provide the ideal opportunity to meet new friends and share your own personal experience in a friendly environment.
Hands on Babies is accredited by the Royal Collage of Midwives. I am a fully certified Hands on Babies Massage and Yoga instructor with a diploma in anatomy and physiology. The classes run for a 6 week block and are priced at £36.00 this includes as much coffee and cake needed!!! If you would like more information on pricing then please contact me on 07896053823 or find me on Facebook – Hannah Hands on Babies.
If you are looking for a baby massage class where your baby gets fluffy white towels each week and after you get to meet new friends with coffee and delicious cake then give me a call. If you are a parent of twins or more then you will only pay for one baby.

This Christmas wouldn’t it be wonderful if we all made an effort to buy something from a local business? Every time I buy from Amazon, I think, I’m making a rich person even richer! But if you buy from a local business, you help to change someone’s life and make something they’re really passionate about into a success! Here are just a handful of local businesses you can support this year, and also get some truly wonderful and original gifts to treasure forever.
The Little Silver Company – Beautiful bespoke fine silver jewellery and keepsakes including Children’s handprints, footprints and fingerprints. Ceri says, “I set up from my love of jewellery and all things of sentimental value – there was no better keepsake than my children’s handprints and fingerprints captured forever in silver and so my business began..”
Leanne who runs Leanne’s Little Gift Company says, “I set up as a way of being able to do a job I love whilst being able to be a stay at home mum. We make and sell items for all occasions, if you can’t find a colour or design you are looking for just message us and we will try our best to source it.”
3. Jade says, “I set up Blossom Craft Company by myself not long ago. I have a 4 year old in reception and a 3 year old in nursery – I’m hoping that this gives me the best of both worlds- working from home being creative whilst having my little humans run around me! I have qualifications in fashion design and a BA Hons degree in costume design and textiles – this is what I enjoy! Creating ! .. my page at the moment is full of Christmas delights and hair bows for your little ‘uns.. and big ‘uns.”
4. Emma says, “I went back to work part time after maternity leave as I wanted to do something a bit different alongside my main job and still have the time at home with my little one so I set up Kids Bee Happy Sand Art!”
5. Adele says, “We are local mums that set up a business that celebrates family time and the precious memories you have along way ❤ we make personalised memory jars for all the family, personalised baubles, santas cookies in a jar, santas magic keys and lots of other Christmas goodies at the moment.” Find them at The Little Memories Company.
7. Cathryn says, “I’m a busy mum of 3 (children are 1, 3 and 5) and I opened Into the Woods 6 months ago. We do build a bear style teddies stuffed with our teddy bear machine, parties, fairytale pamper parties and fairytale photography set in our own enchanted wood, got some beautiful teddies and costumes in for Christmas.”
8. Emma says, “I set up my business ‘Little Petal Cakes‘ after realising returning to work after maternity leave was no longer a feasible option!

We’ve been to many classes and groups over the years, but I have to say that babyballet® is one of my favourites. Many years ago, we used to attend classes with Miss Brianne at Jimmy Gs in Saltaire, and I love the structure of the classes and how interactive they are. So I was pretty pleased to hear that classes are starting up again in Bingley with Miss Heather, and we attended today. Miss Heather has a strong background in dance and is great with little ones – she gets that they sometimes want to run around, and the setting is ideal for that too!
The class times are:-
9:15 – 18 months to 3 years. £4.75
10am – 3 years+ £4.75
10:45 – 6 months to 18 months. £4
The classes are 35 minutes long and take place at St Wilfreds Church Hall in Gilstead. There is on road parking.
We went along today and there is plenty to keep little ones occupied including bubbles, teddy bears, instruments, dance moves and great songs. Unfortunately my little girl spent the session running round like a lunatic so I was unable to get many good photos!
Heather says, “babyballet® is running award winning classes across Bradford North, why not book a trial and come and join in the magic?
With a real focus on learning through play, the unique babyballet® syllabus offers four key stages of ballet and tap classes where every child can build their confidence and social skills, learning manners, discipline and respect while developing their basic ballet technique, coordination, musicality, balance, posture and rhythm.”
This blog has always been and always will be, about making Bingley a better place and promoting local businesses and events. I want to be part of making Bingley a great place to live for everyone – including my own family, and doing whatever I can to help others. Bingley has been on the up now, for a few years, and the recent addition of Martinez and soon a Marks and Spencers food, makes me very excited!
But now, we actually have a great restaurant too – to add to the already great cafes and bars – but we’ve never really had somewhere that not only works well for us as a family, but is also great for date nights for hubby and I – a rare thing admittedly these days. Introducing – Galo’s Kitchen!
“We are a family friendly Italian restaurant in Bingley. We are a local family run business who specialise in home cooked food.”
Bingley has been crying out for something like this for years – and now we have it! So on Wednesday night we went along with my parents-in-law, to check it out and see what the fuss was about. There is parking outside from 6pm, which was great for us as my father-in-law is disabled, and steps going upstairs from the street, but with plenty of room and a good banister, but just something to keep in mind if you’ve a pushchair or use a wheelchair.
The restaurant was quite empty when we got there at 6pm, but when we left at 8pm was almost full – on a week night in the summer holidays! Not bad going, already word has spread about the quality of the food and service.
We started with a glass of procecco, which was excellent. I like mine to be quite fizzy so I asked for a new bottle to be opened, which was done without question – perfect. We decided to go for the early bird menu, which frankly is amazing value.
I chose the calamari and the sea bream.
I was amazed at the portion sizes considering the cost – very generous indeed.
There was a kids menu too but unfortunately I didn’t get a photo – I think it was £5.95 which includes main (pizza, lasagne, pasta etc) a drink and a pudding – good value I thought.
My in laws ordered the steak for their main course, I was surprised to see steak on an early bird menu without a supplement, they said it was cooked to perfection.
For pudding, I ordered the Italian version of Creme Brulee – again it was huge! Absolutely amazing taste, I could tell it was home made rather than from a shop, but in a good way if you see what I mean? In fact everything had that fresh cooked, home made quality to it, you could tell that everything was made to order, though service was quick even so. Speaking of service, Zara was very friendly, attentive and great with the kids – just what you need.
I would highly recommend Galo’s Kitchen for families, couples and next time plan to try the A La Carte menu which includes scallops – I also noticed a lobster pasta on the specials board which sounded delicious.
I did not receive a free meal or discount for this review, all thoughts are my own.
Bumps and Beyond! We are a brand new friendly baby group whose aim is to help you with all those questions you have as a new parent such as how should my baby develop? when should I wean them? Are they getting enough sleep?
Marion and I are both experienced Health Visitors who want to support families at this exciting time.
We would like to invite both new and expectant parents to a free introductory session to tell you what we are all about!
The group will take place on Monday 18th July at 1:30- 2:30pm at Holy Trinity Church, Bingley (located behind Trinity and All Saints Primary School).
We look forward to seeing you all there, refreshments will be provided!
Please get in touch if you would like more information by facebook or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
